I’m Fawad — a full-stack web developer in Düsseldorf. I’ve spent most of my career on the seam between two ecosystems that rarely talk to each other: PHP on the server, JavaScript in the browser.

On the server side that has mostly meant Laravel for new applications and TYPO3 for the long-lived, editor-heavy ones — the kind of system that has been running for a decade and needs to keep running for another. On the client side, Vue and React, increasingly with TypeScript everywhere and rendering pushed back toward the server, which is a funny place to arrive after years of server-rendered PHP.

Why I write here

Most of what I know I learned by getting something wrong first. This site is where I write down the version I wish I’d found — the actual cause, not the symptom, and the reasoning that got me there.

The posts are filed onto three shelves: things that run on a server, things that run in a browser, and everything about how the work gets done. It is not a taxonomy for its own sake — those are genuinely three different kinds of problem, and they fail in different ways.

What I’m good for

Untangling systems that have grown for years. Making a slow page fast, and explaining why it was slow. Building the boring, well-tested middle of an application — the part nobody demos and everybody depends on. Reading a codebase nobody has documented and reporting back honestly about what is in it.
